THE ENDANGERED ELEPHANTS
The Elephants of Africa live in areas that are south
of the Sahara Desert. They usually live in matriarchal herds migrating, comprised
between 8 and 12 elephants. African elephants, now, are considered endangered, although
claim that in recent years the population has grown in number.
They eat roots,
grass, fruit, and do so in large quantities. An adult elephant can consume up
to 135 kg of food in one day. These animals don`t sleep much, and travel long
distances in search of the huge amounts of food.
The elephants are endangered by excessive hunting and
deforestation. Also affected some pollution because if the water is
contaminated can take poison.
Must save African elephants is necessary for the
situation of danger of these animals with a brake. This is because if the
African elephant disappear, unbalance the ecosystem have consequences for other
species and also for people.
